The impact of low blood pressure (hypotension) in the intensive care unit setting has long been understood. In 2014, a UMHS wide analysis of chidren admitted to the pediatric critical unit identified a link between high blood pressure (hypertension) and longer hospitalizations, acute kidney injury and increased risk of mortality.
